Chenani-Nashri Tunnel in India
Time:2016-08-16From:sinorock View:
Chenani-Nashri Tunnel, in Udhampur, India, will be the longest road tunnel project in the country when opened for traffic in 2016.This 9km-long tunnel, being built at the foot of the Himalayan mountains, will connect the districts of Chenani and Nashri, and its construction is estimated to cost INR37.2billion ($723million).
It is a part of the planned four-lane widening of the National Highway 1A between Srinagar and Jammu. The tunnel will act as an alternative to the existing NH1A section, which faces safety concerns, as it passes through steep mountain terrains.
The two-line bi-directional traffic tunnel will be an all-weather and reliable road throughout the year. It will reduce the traveling distance from 41km to 10km.
Another 8.45km tunnel between Quazigund and Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar highway is also being constructed as part of INR100billion ($2.2billion) road projects in Jammu and Kashmir. It will run in the lower Himalayan mountain range to connect Chenani to Nashri villages.
Construction uses professional Tunneling technique method to excavate and support. Hollow anchor bolt adopts different materials and processing methods to adapt to all kinds of projects. It combines drilling, grouting and anchoring together, which can bond hollow anchor bolt with surrounding stratum and support project tightly.
