Mechanics and Characteristics of Self Drilling Hollow Anchor Bar

Self drilling anchor bolt is a new and efficient method for supporting project, it composes of self-drilling hollow anchor bar, sprayed concrete and retaining wall of reinforced concrete frame, equipping with one-off wearable drill bit.
Self-drilling hollow anchor bar has characteristics of tensile, bending, shear and high surface-bonding strength.
Self drilling anchor bolt adopts hollow anchor bar, through grouting, it fill cracks between anchor bar and rock soil. It doesn’t need casing pipe, even for stratum which is easy to collapse. At the same time, it can put drilling, grouting and anchoring together, enhancing efficiency. Besides, continuous thread on bar’s surface can enhance anchoring strength, which promotes anti-torque capacity.
The lifetime of self drilling anchor bolt structure buried in rock-soil layer depends on its durability, while the biggest threat for its lifetime is corrosion.
Based on current achievements of technical research, there are chemical corrosion, galvanic corrosion, high stress corrosion and scattered current corrosion in stratum, which are mainly caused by corrosive medium in stratum, such as PH value and electrical conductivity. Through water and air, they contact with anchor bolt’s outside surface. So anchor bolt always adopts isolation and insulation measures to avoid water and air when contacting with anchor bolt.
Common ways of protecting self drilling anchor bolt are grouting wrap, resin galvanized and casing pipe isolation methods.
